Animated Flash Banners as below certainly catch the customers eye, and are very effective. But they can have a few drawbacks and may be unsuitable for some uses, being more expensive to create and they also slow the loading of webpages. 
Also if you can not see the animated Marlin advert above, it is because you do not have a suitable Flash media player installed on your PC - which is one of the risks of advertising using animated Flash banners. Although as more and more people update their computers this will become far less of a problem.
 
    
Good poster designs draw attention and excite potential customers.
